Green Tour Cappadocia: Private Full-Day Tour

The Cappadocia Green Tour combines some of the region’s most distinctive sites, including Ihlara Valley, Kaymaklı Underground City, Selime Monastery, and Pigeon Valley. The tour begins at Kaymaklı Underground City, one of Cappadocia’s largest underground settlements, before continuing to Ihlara Valley. Here, a three to four kilometre walk follows the Melendiz River past rock-cut Byzantine churches and cave dwellings. The route continues to Belisırma village for lunch.

After the valley, visit Selime Monastery, an extensive rock-cut religious complex carved into the cliffs. The day ends at Pigeon Valley, overlooking the landscape between Uçhisar and Göreme. With its underground city, riverside walk, rock-cut churches, and monastery, the Green Tour is a good choice for visitors who want to combine Cappadocia’s history with a more active day outdoors.

Essential Notes for Your Journey

  • Footwear: Comfortable walking shoes or trainers are absolutely essential for the Ihlara Valley path and uneven terrain at Selime. Sandals or dress shoes are not suitable.
  • The Walk: The Ihlara Valley section covers 3-4 kilometers on a flat, shaded river path. The initial descent into the canyon involves approximately 400 steps, which is the most strenuous part.
  • Best Season: Spring (April-May) offers wildflowers and lush greenery, while autumn provides stunning foliage. Summer is pleasant in the shaded canyon and cool underground city. Winter offers a quieter, stark beauty.
  • What to Bring: A small daypack for water (provided), sunscreen, a light layer for the cool underground city, and your camera to capture the breathtaking landscapes.
  • Lunch: Enjoy an authentic riverside lunch in Belisırma village. This meal is not included in the tour price, allowing you to choose from delicious local specialties.
